Google Releases Android 16 Beta 4.1 with Key Bug Fixes & performance enhancements

Android 16

Google has officially launched Android 16 Beta 4.1, now available for developers and beta testers. This latest update is initially rolling out to Pixel devices, serving as the newest test version of the Android operating system. It addresses multiple issues reported in previous beta builds, including problems with 4K video recording, haptic feedback, weather radar maps, and the Google app. Additionally, the update targets a widely reported battery drain issue affecting Pixel phones.

Key Improvements in Android 16 Beta 4.1

This release builds on Android 16 Beta 4, the second major platform stability version—where all developer APIs and app-facing behaviors are finalized and expected to remain unchanged in the public release. According to Google’s official release notes, the Beta 4.1 update includes:

  • Improved haptic feedback, especially when using the app drawer, typing, or navigating with gestures.
  • A fix for a bug where 4K video recording at 30fps using 4x telephoto zoom would abruptly stop after a few seconds.
  • Resolution of a glitch causing the weather radar map in the Pixel Weather app to disappear.
  • Fixes for UI issues such as a black navigation bar during screen transitions.
  • A solution to an issue where the Google app would crash when attempting to load certain websites.
  • Battery drain fix, previously marked as a “high impact” problem, which was occurring simultaneously with other performance issues.

Eligible Devices

The following Pixel devices are eligible for the Android 16 Beta 4.1 update:

  • Pixel 9 Series
  • Pixel 9a
  • Pixel 8 Series
  • Pixel Tablet
  • Pixel Fold
  • Pixel 7 Series
  • Pixel 6 Series

If you’re enrolled in Google’s Android Beta Program, your device should receive the OTA (Over-the-Air) update automatically. However, as with most beta rollouts, distribution may occur in phases, so availability might vary by device and region.
