iFi Launches GO link 2 USB DAC to Upgrade iPhone and Laptop Audio

iFi Audio has introduced the next generation of its compact USB dongle DAC, the GO link 2, aimed at users looking to significantly improve audio quality on smartphones, laptops, and tablets. The company describes the new model as “smaller and lighter than ever.”

The GO link 2 is designed to bypass the internal DAC circuitry found in many devices, delivering a higher-quality digital-to-analog conversion experience — especially useful for listeners streaming high-resolution music.

Designed to Improve Everyday Audio

Many smartphones and budget laptops use DAC chips that are optimized for basic playback rather than high-fidelity sound. With streaming platforms such as Apple Music, TIDAL, and Qobuz offering lossless and high-resolution audio, users increasingly demand better sound performance.

The GO link 2 works as a plug-and-play solution. Once connected, it overrides the device’s internal DAC and transforms it into a high-resolution music source capable of delivering improved clarity, dynamic range, and detail.

Smaller, Lighter, and More Powerful

The latest version is 8% smaller and 29% lighter than the original GO link. Despite its compact size, the GO link 2 features an ESS Sabre DAC capable of supporting:

  • PCM audio up to 32-bit/384kHz
  • Native DSD256

The device enhances dynamic range to widen the gap between subtle details and louder peaks in music, improving overall contrast and impact. THD compensation has also been upgraded, reducing distortion by up to 62% compared to the previous model.

Additional enhancements include:

  • S-balanced 3.5mm headphone output
  • Reduced channel crosstalk by 50%
  • Cleaner stereo separation
  • Lower output impedance

Hi-Res Audio Support and App Integration

The GO link 2 uses the same ESS Sabre chipset as its predecessor but adds compatibility with the iFi Nexis app. Android users can apply firmware updates over-the-air and choose from a range of digital filters.

With growing availability of high-resolution tracks across streaming platforms — including 192kHz content — the GO link 2 is designed to handle modern hi-res music demands efficiently.

It is also the first device in the GO link series to support full integration with the iFi Nexis app, allowing firmware upgrades without requiring a desktop computer.

Pricing and Availability

The iFi GO link 2 is available via the official iFi website and authorized retailers at:

  • $59
  • £59
  • €59

The device includes a 12-month limited warranty (24 months within the EU).
