Urgent Warning for Google Chrome Users: Update Now to Avoid Security Risks

If you’re browsing with Google Chrome, this update is crucial. The Indian government’s cybersecurity agency, CERT-In, has issued a high-risk alert for Chrome users on Windows, macOS, and Linux, citing serious vulnerabilities that could let hackers take control of your system.

What’s the Issue?

According to CERT-In, multiple security flaws have been discovered in Google Chrome versions earlier than 136.0.7103.113/.114 for Windows and macOS, and 136.0.7103.113 for Linux. These vulnerabilities could allow attackers to:

  • Execute harmful code remotely
  • Crash your system
  • Steal personal or sensitive data

All of this could happen just by visiting a malicious website.

“Multiple vulnerabilities have been reported in Google Chrome which could allow a remote attacker to execute arbitrary code on the targeted system,” CERT-In stated.

Who Is at Risk?

Anyone using Google Chrome on a desktop or laptop—whether on Windows, macOS, or Linux—is potentially at risk. Both individuals and organizations could be targeted if the browser is not updated promptly.

One Bug Already Exploited by Hackers

One of the vulnerabilities, CVE-2025-4664, is already being actively exploited, making it critical for users to update immediately.

How to Update Google Chrome (Desktop/Laptop)

  • Open Google Chrome
  • Click the three vertical dots (top-right corner)
  • Navigate to Help > About Google Chrome
  • Chrome will automatically check for updates and install them
